Podcast 15: The Coen Brothers

The Ladykillers, Miller’s Crossing, and Fargo take the stage as we go over the work of what might be our favorite filmmakers, Joel and Ethan Coen.  It’s just Benn and James this week, but that gives us a chance to really go in depth and elaborate, and we’ve really got a lot to say.

Podcast 14: Die Hard vs. Lethal Weapon

In honor of Christmas, we decided to experiment with our podcast format a little.  So we split into two teams to debate which of our favorite Christmas set action films is better, Die Hard or Lethal Weapon.  It gets a little wild and hectic, but it also gets a little hilarious, so make sure you check this one out.  The Die Hard Team: James, Fil, and Vince.  The Lethal Weapon Team: Benn, Dylan, and Eric.  Also, you’ll notice this podcast is up a few days early, that’s so it can be here before Christmas.

Podcast 13: Sam Raimi

Drag Me to Hell, Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn, and Spider-Man take the stage as we cover the work of Sam Raimi.  He’s a big filmmaker with two blockbusters on deck, so we dig into what makes him great, and what might make him not.  Our guest this week was our very own columnist, Fil Garrison.

Podcast 9: Movies We Hated (That Others Liked)

I like to imagine theyre about to jump to their angsty deaths in this image.

This week on the podcast, the guys do the unthinkable. We bring on our friend Jeremy, numb ourselves with a bit of alcohol, and watched Twilight. And we did it for you. I’m sure you know what we thought, but you’ll want to hear it first hand, as we rail against Twilight, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, and X-Men Origins: Wolverine. The “wildest podcast ever”.

WARNING: This particular episode gets a bit more explicit than most, so be prepared.

Podcast 8: Dorm Movies

This week on the podcast we bring on a special guest, Derek Kosko, to talk about Dorm Movies.  These are the types of films that get watched repeatedly in a school dorm situation.  And the subject matter seemed to bring out our funniest and wildest podcast yet.  In this episode we talk about Starship Troopers, Boondock Saints, and the almighty The Big Lebowski.

You may remember the fourth episode of our podcast, about our Top 10 Favorite Films.  This week’s podcast is the second part of our series in which we talk about our top 10 favorite films.  This week we will cover in detail the following films: Apocalypse Now, Without Limits, Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, A Nightmare Before Christmas, and Ferris Beuler’s Day Off.  These are some of our very favorite movies, and so we have a lot to say about them and really love talking about them.

Podcast 6: Zombies

James, Benn, and Dylan wax poetic on the zombie genre, and boy do they do some in depth analysis.  We start out featuring the lesser known Fido and then get into the classics like Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, and Shaun of the Dead.  It’s definitely a full plate but we think we did it some justice and it’s probably simultaneously our most fun and our most intellectual podcast yet.  Who knew that zombies would bring out the best of us, hell in the movies they usually bring out the worst.
